The Hevesi Journal experience is built for couples who care more about how their wedding day felt than how it was staged. Our work is documentary by design, not by accident.
We anticipate moments instead of manufacturing them, because the most meaningful parts of your day cannot be recreated once they pass. This approach is intentional, demanding, and deeply human. It is not for everyone, and that is exactly the point.
We love meeting new people who turn into friends & capturing memories for you to remember YEARS down the line. We value our relationships with our people, and we want to make sure your laugh + smile is real just like you would with your loved ones.
Capturing your biggest moments seamlessly, there is something special & peaceful about having a husband & wife photo & video team.
One process, one cohesive product, and the peace of knowing that we have the same vision, purpose, and goal for you to enjoy every moments, while we capture it all.
David and his team work closely with you before the wedding to fully grasp what your vision for your day is to bring it to life through your film. Each video package includes 2 videographers, a highlight film of the day, and full documentary of all the video clips (including ceremony & other key moments). Want to remember what was said? Documentary wedding photography is not about standing back and hoping moments happen. It is about reading people, anticipating emotion, and knowing when not to interfere. We photograph weddings for couples who want to be fully present on their day and trust that the real moments matter more than perfect poses. If heavy direction and constant staging are important to you, this may not be the right fit. If honesty, connection, and memory are, it usually is.
Unlike traditional wedding photography, which often involves posed shots and orchestrated scenes, documentary photography captures the day as it happens. The emphasis is on candid moments, genuine expressions, and the natural flow of events, providing a more truthful representation of your wedding day.
Yes, while the focus is on capturing candid moments, I understand the importance of family portraits. We’ll set aside time during the day to take these traditional shots, ensuring you have a complete collection of memories, including both posed and spontaneous images.
As a documentary wedding photographer, I blend into the background and anticipate important moments. My experience allows me to be in the right place at the right time, capturing the key events without interrupting the flow of your day.
Expect a relaxed and unobtrusive presence. I’ll capture everything from the quiet, intimate moments to the lively celebrations without needing to pose or stage anything. You can focus on enjoying your day, knowing that all the special moments are being documented.
I am skilled in working with various lighting conditions, including low light, which is often part of a wedding’s natural atmosphere. I use techniques and equipment that allow me to capture beautiful images in any setting, ensuring that your memories are preserved no matter the lighting.
Absolutely! While my focus is on capturing people and moments, I also take care to document the details that make your wedding unique. I’ll capture the decor, venue, and all the little touches that you’ve worked hard to create, all within the context of your day’s story.
I work closely with you beforehand to understand the key events and moments you want to be captured. On the day, I’m always observing and ready to capture spontaneous interactions and significant moments as they happen, ensuring nothing is missed.
While my primary approach is documentary, I can certainly incorporate creative and artistic shots if that’s something you’re interested in. We can discuss your preferences beforehand to ensure your vision is reflected in the final collection of images.
You can expect to receive your fully edited documentary wedding photos within 4-6 weeks after your wedding. I carefully curate and edit each image to tell the complete story of your day, and I’ll provide a few preview images within a week to give you an early glimpse of the memories we captured.
Alright, alright, if you've made it here, you are picking up what we are putting down. You want a crazy fun adventure, you're not afraid to get a little dirty, and want to book your dream duo?
