Let’s be real for a second: 4K cameras and slow-motion shots are great, but they aren’t what makes a wedding film cinematic. The real magic? It’s the narrative. It’s the audio. Specifically, it’s the vows.
When I’m in the editing room, I’m not just cutting clips to a beat; I’m building a story. For Courtney and Evan, their vows weren’t just promises, they were the blueprint for the entire video.
When Evan said, “I promise to walk, not run… and to keep choosing you through each and every version of who we become”, that gave the film its soul. That audio is what turns a “highlight reel” into a movie that actually makes you feel something.
We started the day at the Bellyard Hotel in Atlanta, which gave us that modern, high-end backdrop. We kicked things off with the guys just doing their own thing, keeping it relaxed, before heading over to the girls.
The emotions started early with a first look with Courtney’s dad and her bridesmaids, but the main event was the first look with Evan. We set this up on the patio outside for a private moment, then moved to the second patio to get those portraits with the Atlanta skyline popping in the background.
Next, we headed to the venue for the main event. A Bishop Station wedding is always a win because of the industrial aesthetic, but the lighting inside for the ceremony was next-level. It makes such a difference on camera when the venue is well-lit.
They even had a live painter capturing the couple during the ceremony, which was such a cool, unique touch. But again, the highlight here was that audio, hearing them talk about their “slow run” relationship grounded the whole scene.
After the ceremony and some detail shots of the space, the vibe shifted from “emotional storytelling” to “straight-up party.”
The speeches were hilarious (shoutout to the “down for anything” meme story ), but what I loved most was that Courtney and Evan stayed on the dance floor. A lot of couples get pulled away for photos or chats, but these two were locked in, dancing the whole time.
To keep that energy going, they brought out the heavy hitters: Espresso Martinis and a late-night Taco Bell run. Honestly? Iconic behavior.
This wedding had it all, the stunning visuals at Bellyard and Bishop Station, the chaotic fun of the reception, and the Taco Bell finish. But what truly glued it all together was the narrative they built in their vows.
Planning a wedding in Atlanta? If you want a film that prioritizes your story and real emotions (and maybe some late-night tacos), let’s make it happen.
For this wedding, the couple got ready at the Bellyard Hotel in West Midtown. It is located just minutes from the venue and features a rooftop patio with stunning Atlanta skyline views, which served as the perfect backdrop for their first look and portraits.
Absolutely. The venue features massive industrial windows that flood the ceremony space with natural light. This allows for clean, cinematic footage without relying heavily on artificial lighting during the day. The brick textures and iron details also add a unique visual depth to the film.
The team included Hevesi Journal for videography, River Wild for photography, and The Finer Side for planning. The reception featured catering by Zest Atlanta, music by One Night ATL, and a live painting by artist Caroline Stroud to capture the ceremony in real-time.
Yes. Bishop Station is a dual-purpose venue. Courtney and Evan held their emotional ceremony inside against the industrial windows, then transitioned the space for a cocktail hour and a high-energy reception with plenty of room for a large dance floor.
