Cator Woolford Gardens is one of Atlanta’s most peaceful and romantic spots for engagement photos. I recently did engagement photos & video at Cator Woolford Gardens for a sweet couple, and I wanted to share what the experience was like, what makes this garden special, and how you can plan your own session here.

Why This Location Works So Well
This spot feels tucked away from the city, but it’s just minutes from downtown Atlanta. The gardens are full of beautiful trees, stone steps, and open green space. You’ll find quiet paths, a large staircase, and an open lawn — all perfect for capturing both candid and posed moments, especially when planning engagement photos & video at Cator Woolford Gardens.
What We Did During the Shoot at Cator Woolford Gardens
We met a couple of hours before sunset to catch the golden hour. We started at the grand staircase and worked our way through the garden paths, pavilion, and open field. Capturing engagement photos & video at Cator Woolford Gardens during this time is truly magical.
They brought two outfits — one dressy and one casual — which gave us a good variety in both the photos and video. Some of the best moments came when they just laughed and walked hand-in-hand or twirled under the trees. These small moments made the video feel really personal.

What’s Included in Our Photo & Video Sessions at Cator Woolford Gardens
We offer both photography and videography for engagement sessions. That means you’ll walk away with beautiful still photos and a short highlight video that captures your story in motion.

In this session, we filmed:
- A walk down the main staircase
- A first-look moment in the courtyard
- Twirling under the pavilion
- Candid laughter and hugs during golden hour
- Drone Shots
The couple loved how the video let them relive the energy of the day — not just see it, but feel it.
Tips for Planning Your Session at Cator Woolford Gardens
- Book a permit: The gardens ask for a small fee (about $100/hr) to use the space. It supports a great cause. Book Here
- Best time to shoot: Aim for golden hour — about 1.5–2 hours before sunset. Or go early in the morning if you want soft light and fewer people around.
- What to wear: Flowy dresses work really well here, and light, neutral tones look great with all the greenery. Bring shoes that are easy to walk in — you’ll be moving around a bit.
- Pack the small things: A towel or blotting paper (especially in summer), water, and maybe a small brush or mirror for touch-ups.

Why Add Video?
Photos are great for printing and sharing, but video gives movement and sound to your story. That twirl, that smile, the way you look at each other — all of it comes alive in a short highlight reel shot at Cator Woolford Gardens.
You don’t have to do anything extra. We film the natural moments as they happen. The final video is set to music and perfect for sharing with family or posting online.
Final Thoughts
Cator Woolford Gardens is calm, quiet, and full of character. It’s great for couples who want something timeless and romantic without feeling too formal.
